We are thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our team at AccuGrit – James Berry! James has joined us as a Meteorologist, bringing a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge in the field of weather forecasting. As he embarks on his gap year from the prestigious University of East Anglia, we are fortunate to have him contribute his expertise to our winter maintenance operations.
With his background in meteorology, James is well-equipped to analyse weather patterns and provide accurate forecasts. This is particularly crucial for our winter maintenance services, as we strive to keep roads and properties safe during inclement weather conditions. James’s insights and predictions will play a vital role in ensuring that our team is prepared and ready to tackle any challenges that winter throws our way.
Even though James is busily getting himself familiarised with all things AccuGrit, we borrowed him for five minutes to find out more about our newest recruit.
What made you apply for this role at AccuGrit.
I applied for this role at Accugrit as I’ve always wanted to work in the meteorological field. So, when I saw this job come up it interested me and I decided to apply for it.
Tell us a bit about your role and what your week will look like.
During the week I am helping input all the client data and creating any new accounts or sites, I am also now in charge of the weekly weather reports.
What unique insights and predictions can we expect you to bring to our weather forecasts?
I am planning on helping with the weekly predictions posted every Friday, by making them more about different regions and areas of the UK rather than the UK as a whole.
How has your background and experience prepared you for the challenges of being a meteorologist?
I am currently doing a degree in meteorology at university, so I have already studied weather patterns and know what to look out for to predict a storm coming in.
What inspired you to pursue a career in meteorology, and how does your passion drive your work?
A few years ago, I went to a seminar on applying mathematics to real jobs with one of the talks being on meteorology and it just stuck with me. This means I am always looking at how and why events happen so I can use that knowledge in the future.
